# getApprovalConfiguration

> Reads the stored settings and revision for an approval requirement in an authorization scope.

## Import

Call this method on a server-side ParaRestClient created with your server secret key.

```ts theme={null}
import { ParaRestClient } from "@getpara/rest-sdk";
```

async

Reads the stored settings and revision for an approval requirement in an authorization scope.

Copy method signature

### Returns

[`Promise<PermissionsV2AuthorizationConfigurationView>`](/v3/references/types/permissions#permissionsv2authorizationconfigurationview)

The stored values and their revision.

## Route

Nothing is stored until the first write, so this method returns 404 until then. Use [getEffectiveApprovalConfiguration](/v3/references/rest/permissions/get-effective-approval-configuration) to read the authored defaults.

```text theme={null}
GET /v1/permissions-v2/authorization-scopes/{authorizationScopeId}/policies/{policyId}/versions/{policyVersion}/requirements/{requirementId}/configuration
```

## Example

Read the stored revision alongside the saved setting values.

```ts theme={null}
const { revision, values } = await para.getApprovalConfiguration(reference);
```

## Errors

A non-success response throws `ParaRestError` with the HTTP `status`, the error `code` and a `message`. [Permissions errors](/v3/references/permissions/errors) lists every error code.

An empty path argument throws `ParaRestValidationError` before the request is sent.

| Status | Code | When |
| - | - | - |
| 404 | `NOT_FOUND` | No configuration is stored for this requirement and scope yet, or the requirement does not exist. |
