# ParaEthersV5Signer.connect

> Returns a new signer connected to an ethers v5 provider.

Method

Returns a new signer connected to an ethers v5 provider.

### Returns

`ParaEthersV5Signer`

A new signer that keeps the current Para wallet selection.

## Import

```ts theme={null}
import type { Para as ParaServer } from '@getpara/server-sdk';
import { ParaEthersV5Signer } from '@getpara/ethers-v5-integration';
```

## Usage

```ts theme={null}
declare const para: ParaServer; // An authenticated Para Server client with a loaded EVM wallet.
declare const provider: import('ethers').ethers.providers.Provider;
const signer = new ParaEthersV5Signer(para);
const connected = signer.connect(provider);
```

## Limitations

This returns a new instance. The original signer retains its existing provider.
